Finally, a new blog entry! The First of Its Kind, The Lolita Trends Newsletter!

(SOURCE: Leopold von Stoll)

It occured to me that individual brands have their own on-going trends. There may be some overlap, but they're mostly brand specific. Here are some recent trends. Let's start with Angelic Pretty.

Headbows with Side-veils

This head bow is part of AP's Crystal Dream Carnival series. BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT has been selling these sort of headbows for over a year now. It is only recently did AP embrace BABY's headbow trend. I predict we'll be seeing more of these in the future. I also predict the chiffon veil will be replaced with a net mesh giving it a more classy look since AP's recent releases are far from sweet. Think Cinema Doll.

Transparent Blouse Sleeves

AP has been releasing more and more blouses with transparent sleeves. I am unsure when this transition started, but I remember such blouses were being sold during the Day Dream Carnival release. It may have started around that time. I like this trend a lot, but I have yet to own such a blouse. Of course, the sewn-on pearls have been with AP for a long time.

Transparent Main Pieces (OPs/JSKs/Skirts)

This is APs response to the peignoir trend. After receiving good feedback for their "transparent blouse sleeve" trend, I think AP became bold and wanted to try main pieces. I think they're a success for the most part,  depending on how its presented. This OP for instance, because of its style, not very popular and definitely didn't sell out immediately.

Transparent Head Accessories

AP is releasing various head accessories made with this material. I am tempted to buy some myself. They're quite cute. Might make a simple DIY project, too.

I wonder if AP will jump on the underskirt trend...? BABY and Innocent World certainly already has.
BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT is continuing on with their underskirt trend. Nothing new to report from them. Innocent World, however....

Re-releases

Innocent World isn't the type of brand that typically do re-releases, however, it seems this year the brand started to. It is very surprising. It started with their announcement on re-releasing their most coveted print, Lotta. Innocent World didn't keep any of the old colors, instead they released a dusty version of their nordic blue colorway. They also released a pink version, replacing the original bordeaux and chocolate colorways.

Innocent World's biggest selling non-print would be their Vilma OP and their Short Sleeved OP. Both types have been re-released after selling out. Vilma might even be re-released twice! It's very military-esque and university-esque, I think its one of the most perfect classical OPs to ever exist. They also came in many colors. Bordeaux, Navy, Green, Beige, Black, Gray and Chocolate!

Innocent World's latest re-release would be their Astronomical Clock JSK. It sold out instantly, possibly faster than Lotta. Unlike Lotta, once the Astronomical Clock re-release sold out, Innocent World has yet to announce producing another batch which is unfortunate because it's quite sought after, especially this cut.

  1. Don't forget Baby's OTT classic-styled "ruffle waterfall" dresses, haha!
I like how AP as been playing with hair accessories, but like you said, their use of organza for main pieces is pretty hit or miss. It really worked for Fairy Marine, but I think Dolly Cross would have been better in chiffon (or even a heavier fabric like velvet).
Their transparent-sleeved blouses remind me of the bustier-style blouses with cotton bodies and chiffon uppers and sleeves that they've been making for a while (the Romantic Bustier blouse is a newer example of this).
I'm also pretty happy about the IW re-releases. A lot of the time, I feel like re-releases are just a quick cash grab, but so many people have wanted Lotta and Astronomical Clock that I felt like it was pretty nice, really.
